”Practical Life“, the cornerstone of the 3 to 4 Year Old Montessori Program,
focuses on control of movement, care of the environment,
care of self and social relations (grace and courtesy lessons).
Through these exercises children are given the skills to function
independently and develop their self-confidence. Other areas of
focus include Sensorial, Language, Mathematics and Science. Sensorial
exercises are presented for all five senses – visual (Pink
Tower), tactile (touch tables), auditory (sound boxes), olfactory
(smelling jars) and taste (tasting bottles). Language exercises
add to the foundation with vocabulary expansion and writing as the main focus.
The child is introduced to Mathematics through concrete materials using Number Work Progression and Introduction to Numbers.
